August 4, 2010 The project is virtually complete, as can be seen by the construction progress slide show. All of the furniture has arrived and is in place. The Nurse Call monitoring system has been tested and is operational. The Nursing and Kitchen Equipment has all been activated. From a construction perspective, the contractor is working on final deficiencies.
The only major component that remains uncompleted is the Green Roof atop the Village Square, however this work is underway. Some of the landscaping has suffered from the extreme heat this summer and will be replaced.
On August 10 and 11, the Ministry of Health and Long Term Care will be carrying out their final Pre-Occupancy inspection and we do not anticipate any problems. This should allow the first residents to be admitted about 7 -10 days later. It will take at least 10 weeks to admit everyone.
This has been a very complicated project with many challenges and some frustrations. I do believe however, that Mill Creek Care Centre will be one of the premiere Long Term Care facilities in all of Barrie and surrounding area.
